Tim Cunneen » Switch 180 to 5–0
Summer turned it’s warm weather off for a few hours last week during the Washington Skate Jam. Amidst the cooler temps, a healthy gathering of people still showed up to enjoy the mini ramp comp. In particular it was great to see some of the older crew in the mix with some classic lines/tricks, like Raph’s tweaked mute grab, and Tim’s sky-high melon grabs — though yet again James Kingston pulled out his ridiculous skillset to take the win.
Dan Kelcher used the brief rain shower to his advantage to lengthen his grinds, and Jordan Kidd’s attempt at a 540 indy over the hip deserves credit.
Cheers to Cheapskates, Skullcandy, SPARC, Sport Canterbury, and the Christchurch City Council for helping this event happen. It was our last event for 2011, but we’ve got a bunch of events lined up for early 2012. Check our events page for more details on when and where.

Jordan Kidd » Backside 180
Linwood locals were treated to some extreme games recently with the X-Games returning to Linwood for its 3rd year running.
The vibe was good and collisions were kept to a minimum thanks to the enforcement of a clockwise flow. It’s a bit of a worry when you get that many bikers and skaters together in one small park but everyone seemed pretty chilled and it all worked out injury free.
Unlike most our events, the Linwood X-Games includes our fellow 2 wheeled friends for some BMX antics. Some amazing stunts took place in the best trick comp, free sausages were enjoyed by all and the Skate Skool was out rolling around helping the groms. The BMX’s stole the show with their ability to launch massive airs as well as a couple of backflips!
The White Elephant DJ school helped us out with a sweet as sound system and a rocking DJ for the day.
Cheers also to the Push Bikes store for supporting the event with some prizes for the competition and offering free bike checks as well as Cheapskates and Skullcandy.
This event was supported by the Hagley/Ferrymead community board of the Christchurch City Council.
Photographer Nick CP came down to shoot some of the action, check out a few of his best shots below.

Jordan Kidd » Feeble
Skate Skool went rural a few weeks back and ended up out in Darfield. It was a cracker of a day and the crew were amped for the road trip.
Surprisingly there wasn’t a big crowd for us but then again it is Darfield. A handful of local skaters turned up and were stoked we were in town. We mixed things up a little with a basketball shoot out competition as well as the usual best trick comp.
Here’s the results and some of the best photos from the day.

Eru tutaki » Feeble (pre comp)
Our friends at Backflips Clothing decided it was about time for another Timaru skate jam. To celebrate Movember and to raise some funds for a good cause we packed up the van and headed south for the Backflips Movember Skate Jam. The place was buzzing when we arrived and before we knew it the place was loaded with some of the finest skateboarders in the South Island. No chopper scramble this year but the mechanical bull proved a hit and the skate comp was next level. The best trick comp was ridiculous with Dunedin grom, Hootie Andrews winning a brand new laptop with a Hardflip down the 2 stair. Big ups to the crew at Backflips for pulling together a tonne of prizes from a whole heap of sponsors, too many to list. After the madness that was we decided to roll to Temuka on the way back for a lazy roll around — super fun park, well worth a look.
Have a peep of the video (Ryan McRae) and some pics (Andy Brown) from the day.
