We’re rocking back to Linwood Skate Park on December the 10th for the annual Linwood X-Games. $1,000 worth of prizes will be up for grabs in our best trick comps — not only for the most committed skaters but also for those who can huck a bike around. Push Bikes are coming to the party and offering free bike checks too!
There’s going to be our usual sweet things going on like a free BBQ, mobile skatepark, free gear hire, some break dancing demos, and trick tips from the Skate Skool team.
Come down and get amongst it from 12-3pm.

Christchurch folk, get ready for yet another roadtrip, get out of Wash and skate some new terrain. See you there!

As many of you will know, the boys down at Backflips Clothing in Timaru put on a pretty mean comp earlier this year. They’re back next Saturday 19th Nov with the Movember Skate Jam with a huge $7000 prize pool!
Roadtrip time anyone?

Next it was off to one of the oldest and most run down skateparks in Christchurch, Bishopdale skatepark. To amp things up a bit we brought in the Skate Skool mobile skatepark just to keep things interesting. With free gear hire available the place was swarming with beginners which kept the good guys on their toes for most the day.
The best trick comp put on a good show and Andy Brown popped down to grab a few pics.
Skate Skool will be running a Learn to Skateboard programme at Bishopdale park starting Tuesday 8th November, for more info or to register follow this link. This event was proudly supported by the Fendalton/Waimairi community board of the Christchurch City Council. Thanks also to Cheapskates and Skullcandy for hooking up the prizes!

Jayden Edmonds » Ollie over the tabletop
I was on the scout for a young ripper to shoot for November’s Grom of the Month, so headed down to Washington. Chilling over in the corner I spotted Jayden Edmonds, recalled a few good lines and tricks up his sleeve from our Skate Jams, and hit him up for a shoot.
There was no waiting, straight on the board and hucking ollies down the bank to the flat in a matter of seconds. His energy and enthusiasm for skating is huge (or he’s just had too much energy drink), if he didn’t land something, or I missed the split second for getting the right shot, he was back dropping in before I could get my old haggard self back into position.
Here’s what Jayden had to say for our quickfire questions:

Regular or goofy? Goofy
Fav local spot/skatepark: Wash

Tight or loose trucks? Loose
Worst skating injury? Chipped my tooth
Current setup? Deathwish board, Bones STFs, Bones Reds, and Thunders
A good skateboarder’s diet should always include? Red Bull or Monster
What are you going to be doing in 5 years? Don’t know…
Any final words? naa

Lindsay giving a helping hand
So we rolled on out to Sumner for another skate jam a few weeks back. It was a scorcher of a day and everyone was stoked to see us back again.
A crowd of around 80 people rolled around in the sun and gobbled down a mountain of free sausages put up by our friends at Hellers. Thanks to Sumner school for the use of the court and of course all the sponsors that made the event possible — Cheapskates, The Christchurch City Council, Sport Canterbury, SPARC and Skullcandy for some extra prizes. A special shout out also to Tim from FUSE for lending us the sound system and cranking tunes all day.
Here’s a few photos and the results from the comp. Check it!
