Ben McConnell » Nollie Inward Heelflip
As part of a worldwide celebration, we put on a low key evening session down at Washington for International Go Skateboarding Day. The turnout was better than we thought with the free BBQ keeping people warm amidst the freezing temps. Christchurch’s first (that we know of) scooter throwing competition was a hit, and a few prizes from Skate Skool, Cheapskates, and Skullcandy were put up for those who hucked it on the step up feature for a best trick comp. In the last few minutes of the comp Ben McConnell blew us all away and took home the winnings with an unexpected Nollie Backside 360 Heelflip, while the scooter throwing comp was taken out by James Kingston.
Cheers to all those who participated and got on board for a great event!

James Kingston » Fakie Tre Flip

Nick Butcher » Frontside Lipslide

Josh Stewart » Hardflip

James Kingston » Frontside Bluntslide

Jordan McStay » 5–0 Fakie
June’s Grom Of the Month is our comp regular (and regular board snapper) Jordan McStay. We got him up early last Saturday for a shoot down at Thomson Park, made him bail hard on his arse cause it was still wet, and hounded him on Facebook until he got his answers back! Cheers Jordan, you’ve got all the persistence and determination any good skater needs — below is an insight to Jordan, and a few pics from the session. Photos by Andy Brown.

William Hobbs » Back Tail over the gap
Just when we thought the skate jams had come to an end for the summer the Skate Skool crew where on the roll again.
Only as far as Ashburton this time to promote the local skatepark going smokefree. Ashburton isn’t a big town so we were blown away with the turnout of youth as well as a few oldies hanging out around the edges.
26 competitors threw down their best tricks for the goods. The stair gap and rail saw plenty of attention that day with best trick going to Rolleston local Jesse Rogers with a frontside feeble on the rail.
Cheers to all those that came from as far as Christchurch. Certainly worth the drive if you have never skated the park, its only down the road* (*very long road). Big ups to Nick CP for happening to be there on the day and taking the sweet shots below.
Thanks also to Smokefree Mid Canterbury & The Ashburton District Council for supporting the event as well as Cheapskates and Skullcandy for the prizes.
